Honoring Women’s History Month 2024 by Celebrating Our DEI Advocates

Each year, the National Women’s History Alliance declares a theme for Women’s History Month. This year’s theme, “Women Who Advocate for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion,” strikes a resounding chord for us, one that can be heard throughout our organization.

At BNO, we know that when women advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), positive change happens. More voices are heard. More people have a seat at the table. And, meaningful for us, there are more opportunities for woman-owned organizations of all categories. As a woman-owned agency, we know firsthand this doesn’t happen without strong advocates. That’s why we are proud to close out Women’s History Month 2024 by celebrating just a few of the women who have advocated in meaningful ways and, in turn, helped BNO succeed. Each of these remarkable women is a staunch champion for DEI. They work to level the playing field, act as proponents of change, and advocate in ways that not only make their own organizations stronger, but also ours.

Allow us to shout their names from the rooftops.

An Advocate Who Inspires Big Ideas Through Diversity of Thought

“It’s exciting to have a client who is a true innovator in her role. Tara is that unique partner. Conceptual, strategic, and a champion for diverse perspectives, she challenges every team member to be bold and think bigger. It’s these qualities that have made collaborating on the Verizon employer brand such an amazing journey for BNO. Tara’s openness to pushing boundaries within the area of Talent Acquisition inspired all of us to create something that is not only ownable for Verizon, but feels completely fresh within the category. An Advocate Who Champions Fair Value

“We had the opportunity to partner with Zavida with three companies—Mastercard, North American Bancard (formerly Total Merchant Services), and AT&T—on incredibly interesting, high-profile work. What really sticks with me about working with Zavida is the way she fought for our value. She treated us like a true partner—ensuring we were paid fairly but also recognizing our efforts in truly meaningful ways. She made sure we knew how much we were valued, in both word and deed, which motivated our team to go the extra mile for her every time.” -Trista Walker, President and CEO at BNO “We had the opportunity to partner with Zavida with three companies—Mastercard, North American Bancard (formerly Total Merchant Services), and AT&T—on incredibly interesting, high-profile work. An Advocate Who Champions Opportunities for Others

“The incomparable Zenita Henderson—or “Z” as her friends and trusted colleagues are invited to call her—is a force of nature. As the VP of Marketing and Business Development for the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE), she annually grew a world-class think tank summit for the industry while relentlessly working as an award-winning activist supporting everything from STEM initiatives to diversity and inclusion programs, putting her skills to work for several nonprofit organizations. It’s no wonder why Zenita has earned an Inspire Award, been named among the Most Powerful Women in Cable and a Woman to Watch in Technology, and has been inducted into the Cable TV Pioneers. It’s also not shocking that Segra has earned its share of accolades since she joined as CMO last year, adding her effervescent positivity to one of the most diverse executive teams in the industry. To know her is to adore her and appreciate her friendship, the orbit of influence she has created, and her perseverance to create opportunities for others.” -Sheri Wachenheim, Senior Director, PR at BNO “The incomparable Zenita Henderson—or “Z” as her friends and trusted colleagues are invited to call her—is a force of nature.
